My hero. Dana Torres, a mother of a two year old, is competing for a spot in her fifth Olympics.
At age 41.
In swimming - a sheerly strength and aerobic sport, unlike equestrian events or archery.
At age 33, in the 2000 games in Sydney, she was the oldest Gold Medalist for America. In many ways, she steals a bit of the limelight from the Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff.
Ask Torres why she has returned to high-level competition, and the simple answer is because she can. Her coach, Lohberg, added: “And let’s not forget this. She’s nuts.”
