I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but this just strikes me as a little too "neat and tidy" end to a potentially volatile situation.
Granted, 55 years in prison is pretty awful, and even if she served a fraction of it, it would have been bad, but it just seems a little too convenient given the damage she could had, and might have done behind bars with a tell all.
Ya, the simpler explanation is that she just decided to kill herself. If we just forget she was on the verge of outing some very big name senators, it's easier to deal with the story of suicide.
What makes this even more curious is that one of her former employees, the UMBC professor, committed suicide right before she was supposed to go to trial. Kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it?
Note to news media and politicans: Do you really think that the 'American Public' is so gullable as to actually think she committed suicide? If American history has taught us anything it's that those in power kill those who threaten them. Special note to news media: There is a book out, you might want to read it. It's called All the President's Men. It's a tale about investigative journalism in the United States of America, otherwise known today as a fairy tale. Do us all a favor and forget who signs your checks and influences your corporate companies when you "report the news".
Heh, I had the same initial thought too. But the simpler more plausible explanation is she just committed suicide.
