Contracting |
Since April 1:
Number of contractors who responded to request for bids on reconstructing my garden wall and relaying my brick walkway = 5
Number of appointments for estimates scheduled = 6
Number of contractors who bothered to keep appointments = 3
Number of actual bids received = 2
Price differential between bids = 223%
Yeah - low bidder wins this round. |

Now, tell the low bidder that you received 5 quotes and he's second lowest. Say that that you'd really like him to do the work if he'd only come of his price a little (10-20%).
And I wonder why salespeople hate me.

Great minds think alike. Already had that conversation! We agreed to some changes in the walkway that weren't in the original scope of work, and he's going to do them for the original price he quoted.

If he does a good job, give me his number, and I can get him to fix the masonry in my backyard...
